Which version is my book?
As a general rule, use the copyright page to determine which edition you have. Stickers on the cover of a book can trick you into thinking the item is another edition, while the copyright page will provide accurate information.
Please note that books may have the same content but vary in edition. Take extra care to be sure you have the correct edition.
Student Edition - The student edition will have no markings aside from the title, author, edition number, and ISBN. Please be sure that all information is correct. Occasionally old editions are passed off as current and payment will not be issued if items do not match up.
Looseleaf Version - The looseleaf version of the book will be identical to the student edition but will have no permanent binding. These books usually have three-hole punches to allow for use in a binder.
Instructor's Edition - An instructor edition is a book that is sent to educators for review purposes and will have markings on the cover indicating one of the following: Instructor's Edition, Instructor Review Copy, Examination Copy, Not for Resale, or Evaluation Copy. There may be "Used" stickers covering these markings. Generally, these stickers are green with a recycling symbol. Contrary to popular belief, instructor's editions generally will not include any answers and have the exact same material as a student edition. If you have an Instructor's Edition (non-annotated) and we only list a price for the student edition, submit the order as a student edition and we will re-adjust your quote when we receive your shipment at our warehouse. Pay for instructor's editions are 50% of the quoted student edition amount, assuming condition guidelines are met.
Annotated Instructor's Edition - An annotated instructor's edition is a book meant for instructor use and includes answers. They will have markings on the cover indicating one of the following: Annotated Instructor's Edition, Instructor Review Copy, Examination Copy, Not for Resale, or Evaluation Copy. There may be "Used" stickers covering these marking. Generally, these stickers are green with a recycling symbol. We do not purchase these items unless we specifically give a quote corresponding to the exact title.
International Edition - The international edition will usually have a paperback binding and appear to be of lesser quality paper. There will be markings on the cover indicating: Global Edition, Eastern Edition, International Edition, or other similar labels. We do NOT accept these editions. Be careful as these editions are sometimes sold with stickers covering these markings. If we receive an international edition, payment will not be issued.
Old Edition - Old editions can be nearly identical to current editions but will likely have a greatly reduced or zero value. We generally do not accept old editions.
What condition is my book?
New - Brand new, unused, and pristine condition. Usually in the shrink-wrap and the binding is tight. Will not have dents, scratches, or scuffs. New is not determined by age, but by condition.
Like New - Used but still in near perfect condition. A new book that was used for only a few days or a new book that has an imperfection.
Very Good - Has no writing or highlighting. Book has minor but expected wear. Would you be happy if you bought this book and it was described in very good condition? If so, this is the right choice.
Good - A couple pages with highlighting or folds. Corners might be slightly frayed. Moderate wear.
Acceptable - Any one of the following characteristics: heavy writing or highlighting, cover has heavy wear, name written on outer edge of pages, liquid staining, slight odor, minor-moderate manufacturing defects.
Heavy Wear - Shows signs of heavy wear but has no major tears or liquid damage. All pages are included and may include heavy highlighting.
Damaged - Torn or separated binding, torn cover, moderate odor, minor water damage, library or "property of..." stamps, major manufacturing defects (still usable).
DO NOT SEND - Missing pages, smoke damaged, moldy, heavy odor, counterfeit, heavy water damage (heavy page curling), offensive markings.
